It was my second day in France and the time finally came to explore Paris proper. However, with Paris being such a fancy, romantic city, I couldn’t just go looking like my everyday self, so our first stop in Paris was Stephane’s brother’s hair salon. Both Stephane and I were scheduled for an afternoon of pampering, haircuts, and styles, and only then, when we were beautified to the max, looking stylish enough to be worthy of Paris’s glory, we would really explore the city.
Stephane was up first. He had a full wash, cut, and dry, which left his long locks looking very beautiful indeed. Sure he resembled Tarzan a bit, but I think that’s what makes him so sexy!!
I was up next! After a double shampoo, conditioner, and head massage it was time to fashion my new do (well not really a new do just a trim, but it was still fancy). I don’t know whether it was because I was in Paris, or because Stephane’s brother is just that good, but I’ve never had a better haircut experience. Now I’m going to have to fly to France every time I really want a good cut and style! I will say this, however, my hair is going to look good one day when we get married 🙂 I’ve already recruited Avi for the job, which was appropriate since most of the haircut conversation consisted of questions like “So when’s the wedding already”?
Once the actual haircut was complete it was time to dry and style leaving us both looking fresh and clean for our upcoming tour of the city.
The time finally came to wander around Paris, and with our new looks, I finally felt ready to take the city by storm. Our first stop was the famous Parisian subway which would take us to our first destination… The Eiffel Tower!
When we arrived at our first destination I was completely blown away by my surroundings. I have grown up seeing old pictures and photographs of the famous Eiffel Tower, the staple of Paris, and now I was standing right next to it. The architecture of the monument itself was incredible, but the structures and buildings framing the tower, and the grounds that house it, were just as aesthetically stunning. Most of the time I didn’t actually believe I was there; it was like a phenomenal dream, but I was sure to take enough pictures to truly capture the moment! I was truly envious that Stephane grew up in this magical place!
After we had sufficiently explored every angle of the tower, we took some scenic photos by the river surrounding Paris, and then it was time to move on to our next destination; The Champs Elysees! SHOPPING!
After re-entering the subway we finally arrived on the Camps Elysees, and it was by far my favorite destination of the day! I felt right at home surrounded by any designer shop you could possibly imagine! When we first arrived on the avenue however, before the shopping could commence, we decided to find a nice little Pizza/Cafe to eat lunch, where I was obligated to get something both carbohydrate loaded (needed to stock up before Passover), and filled with cheese! I opted for a four cheese creamy pasta, and Stephane went with a sort of pizza pannini filled with cheese, tuna, and eggs. It was DELICIOUS, and just what we needed to give us energy to go into all of the stores!
After lunch it was off to explore the beautiful shops! My personal favorite was Louis Vuitton, but I didn’t mind looking at the engagement rings in Cartier that were so expensive they didn’t even have prices listed! I really wanted to buy something from Louis Vuitton but the least expensive item I found was over 150 euro, and I felt that that kind of money could be put to better use. Maybe I’ll try Dior or Chanel on our next visit to the Avenue in a few days :-). It was just so fabulous being there that I really didn’t mind not buying anything on my first round.
It was a full day by the time we were finished with many of the stores, and after a quick Starbucks (I had to!) we entered the subway for the last time and headed back to Livry-Gargan. It was a perfect first day in Paris, and it only further excited me for the days to come that would be spent in the city. The next day Stephane and I were in for a real treat. His brother, Avi, wasn’t working so he lent us his motorcycle and we were able to do a complete driving tour of Paris! Stay tuned for that post soon!
I love you always and forever, and miss you more than I can express.
Until we meet again <3,
